MERGE AND GROW

iF YOUR DAY WAS FULL
NOT ONE MOMENT HAD BEEN DULL

THOUGHTS SHOUTiNG AND THEY TUMBLE
WHiLE YOUR HEART iS LEFT TO GRUMBLE

TAKE A PAPER LARGE AND FLAT
ROLL YOUR SHOULDERS - DO NOT FRET

CHOOSE A CRAYON, MAYBE BLUE
AND ANOTHER iN YOUR FAVORiTE HUE

START WiTH ONE
DRAW CiRCLES ON AND ON

DON'T YOU REST
YOUR DRAWiNG SHALL NOT BE YOUR BEST

ADD THE SECOND TO THE FLOW
LET YOUR CiRCLES MERGE AND GROW

AFTER YOU HAVE CiRCLED FiNE
YOU MAY ADD HERE AND THERE A LiNE

UP, UP, UP, AND DOWN
ONLY ON THE PAPER, NO COLOR FOR YOUR GOWN

DON'T LOOK AT WHAT YOU DRAW
iT WON'T RESEMBLE SOMETHiNG THAT YOU SAW

HAVE FUN UNTiL YOU TiRE
STOP BEFORE YOUR ARMS ARE SET ON FiRE

WHEN READY, TAKE A LOOK
THAT REALLY WAS AN EASY HOOK

SEE, ALL YOUR ANGRY CLUTTER LiES NOW FLAT
LEAViNG CALM iNSiDE YOUR HEAD
This one also gets a short explanation. This last weekend I had another part of my training to become a professional artCounselor / art therapist. And we did this short exercise to let go of all the heavy emotions we stirred up throughout the day. And it worked quite well. So, if you find yourself weighed down, try this out. You can use whatever pens or art supplies you have at hand. And remember: The process is the key. Don't mind the result. Everything goes.

Thank you, Yvette. I’m really touched you like this piece. And the possibility to turn off the head and calm down through creativity is a real gift I, for one, really appreciate.

I like how the circles “merge and grow”—it makes me think my messy thoughts can squish together and calm down too, Svenja.
