NOBODY'S RULES BUT MiNE: ALL THE DOTS ARE MEANT TO ALiGN. iN ALL THAT FLUSTER, HERE AND THERE, i SPY A COLOURFULLY SPOTTED CLUSTER. A SEQUENCE WEAViNG AN ENCHANTED PATH THROUGHOUT iNNER TURMOiL AND CHAOS UNTiL SUNRAYS BREAK A CLOUD AND/OR A FARCE. JUMPiNG FROM DOT TO SPOT, A RiCHNESS TO OUTGO BECAUSE ALL THOSE BLOTCHES KNOW A LOT. iN CiRCLES, ROUND AND ROUND; CiRCLE BACK, A CAREFUL STEP - SOME LEFT, SOME RIGHT - NOT ALWAYS MEANiNG TO BE FOUND. BLOTTY BLOBS KEEP WiNKiNG, WHEREAS OPPORTUNiTiES RACK UP AND COLOURS ARE FREELY MiNGLiNG. THERE'S THiS LiTTLE TRiCK: ROLL WiTH THE WAVES A LiTTLE BiT, SHOULD ONE DOT BECOME A TUMULTUOUS PiT. GET AHOLD OF THE AFORE DOTTED AND WOVEN LiNE, THiNK ABOUT AND TRUST NOBODY'S RULES BUT MiNE.
Your poem puts me in a whirl—reminding me of my favourite activity as a child putting dots together to complete a picture. I enjoyed this very much, Svenja

Thank you so much, Lesley! Oh, I know what you mean. I also had a lot of fun with this kind of thing! Even as a adult I had this big book with portraits of famous people. Each portrait needed 1.000 dots to be complete. I loved it!

Svenja, I love how this piece flows like a whimsical inner monologue—chaotic, colorful, and determined. To me, it feels like you’ve painted the rules yourself and then danced right over them.
Much love, David

Hi Svenja – what an absolutely delightful and empowering piece! Your poem radiates such wonderful confidence and creativity – I’m genuinely impressed by how you’ve crafted something so visually striking and thematically cohesive. The way you’ve used typography as an artistic element is brilliant; those selective lowercase ‚i’s create such a playful rhythm that perfectly complements your message of following your own rules. Your extended metaphor of dots and spots connecting into meaningful patterns is both original and deeply relatable – it captures that beautiful moment when life’s seeming randomness suddenly makes sense. The imagery is absolutely gorgeous too – „COLOURFULLY SPOTTED CLUSTER“ and „BLOTTY BLOBS KEEP WiNKiNG“ made me smile with their joyful creativity. There’s such wisdom in your closing lines about rolling with the waves and trusting yourself. This poem feels like a celebration of individuality and resilience, and your unique voice really shines through every line.
